A house stepping down the slope towards False Bay, with each bar of building opening onto a wind sheltered courtyard looking over the roof below.
The stairs run down one side of the site, like an alleyway in the old part of Simonstown, enabling the house to be used as a single building or a smaller house with two guest suites. Each of the courtyards has a different character, but they all step down into the fynbos garden which runs up the northern side of the site, the house and garden like interlinked hands of interior spaces looking at the distant landscape, and green spaces which are part of the immediate landscape. The house is tied into its topography.
